In 1968, Mario Giannini founded the artisanal workshop Ducale, which distinguished itself from the very beginning by crafting luxury shoes inspired by the artisanal traditions of the historic Italian noble families.

Driven by a thirst for inspiration and research, Mario Giannini traveled to Northampton, immersing himself in the codes of English style and studying its tradition with the specific aim of evolving it and making it his own.

​British influence and its style elements became the fertile ground to plant his vision, creating a refined balance of Anglo-Saxon style and profoundly Italian elegance—renowned for its softness, lightness, and beautiful forms.

From that journey in 1973, the brand Doucal’s was born, which now boasts a history of over 50 years built on Italian tradition and innovation.
